Well, I’ve taken the plunge!
No, I’m not getting married (maybe someday) and I’m not diving into a swimming pool (although some would say I’m always going off the deep end).
It’s not any of those things. I’m going to write a novel. Not only that, I’ll be writing 50,ooo words in just 30 days!
What’s more, 300,000 of my closest friends will be doing the same thing.
No, I’m not mad (at least no more so than usual) – I’m just participating in National Novel-Writing Month (commonly called NaNoWriMo).
NaNoWriMo is an annual and (despite it’s name) international event wherein each participant undertakes to write a 50,000-word novel, from scratch (i.e. with no previously written text except, perhaps, an outline) during the month of November.
My novel? Fugitive from the Mob. It will be about an organized-crime informant who gets relocated under the witness-protection program but members of the Mob have a plan to find him.
As of the time of the posting of this message, November begins in seven hours and 30 minutes.
Wish me luck!
